"L" sound is sometimes considered as easier pronounce than the "R" sound for Japanese. But, I don't think so because Japanese ra ri ru re ro sounds are just between "L" and "R". "L" is still difficult for most Japanese. On the other hand, I know that some English speakers are not good at pronouncing Japanese ra ri ru re ro :)
